Student Work @ The Open Eye

Our fifth grade students looked at international daily celebration rituals involving tea and coffee and desserts.  We then looked more closely at the art of Wayne Thiebaud, who famously painted cakes and other bakery-case desserts.  We created our own fantasy desserts using oil pastels, and painted over them with real coffee.  Some of our works are now on display in a coffee-themed show at the Open Eye Cafe--come on out and have a little celebration yourself!

Congrats to Ms. Jeremiah and Dr. Suess

Screen Shot from 'Clam I Am'

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Around Mary Scroggs Elementary school, we are celebrating his March 2 birthday. Did you know many of his books are now apps?

Congratulations to our school librarian, Karen Jeremiah, who was recently published on the School Library Journal web site for her review of the app Clam-I-Am.

Google Apps for CHCCS

We are pleased to announce that a new digital classroom learning environment has been established for CHCCS students that enables our school and the district to better engage, share, and participate in a collaborative learning community. This new district-managed system, powered by eChalk andGoogle Apps for Education, will provide student access to online classrooms, an email account, Google Drive, and other instructional tools. At Mary Scroggs the school librarian (Karen Jeremiah) and technology specialist (Melissa Stopa) will provide classes  with lessons on digital citizenship, prior to using the resources.  Please see the district website for more information.
